With the fast-paced changes in technology, the marketing industry has been continuously evolving. Every year, new trends come and go. As the world enters the digital age, marketing strategies have become more complex than ever before. Traditional marketing is no longer the only way to promote a business, and social media has become a huge part of marketing. So what are the anticipated marketing trends for 2024? In this blog post, we will explore a few of the most anticipated trends for marketing in 2024.

  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to become one of the most important marketing trends in 2024. AI can assist in marketing in numerous ways, including analyzing and predicting consumer behavior, creating personalized content, and optimizing ads. It can also provide real-time data analysis, helping marketers make informed decisions in real time.

While it can be a helpful tool, keep in mind that it has its limitations. AI only has the information that is given to it meaning it does not have all the information available to us. It will not be up to date on recent developments or new statistics most of the time. It also can be wrong, it is not a perfect system and should be fact-checked when possible. 

  1. Personalized Marketing

Personalized marketing is another trend that is gaining traction and will continue to do so in 2024. Consumers expect more personalized content from brands they engage with, and companies that can provide this will thrive. To deliver personalized content, marketers need to utilize data and use it to create targeted messages and campaigns that speak directly to a consumer's needs or interests.

An example of companies that successfully use personalized marketing is streaming services. They suggest different shows and movies that they think you will like based on your previous watch history and ratings.

This could be utilized for financial planners with the various services you offer. If a client inquires about retirement plans, maybe you should offer them a trust or will for example. 

  1. Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR)

In the next few years, AR and VR technologies will likely be accessible to the general public (even more so than they already are). AR and VR have the potential to create immersive experiences for consumers and transform how they interact with brands. With these technologies, marketers can create virtual storefronts, product demos, and 3D visuals that allow customers to interact with a product before buying it.

You may be thinking that since financial advisors don’t typically sell tangible products, this doesn’t apply to your business but we argue that it does. Perhaps not directly in this new year but soon AR and VR could make in-person shopping or meeting less and less necessary. This would mean a new way of meeting with clients or holding seminars and webinars. 

  1. Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing has been around for a while now, but it's only expected to gain more significance in 2024. Influencer marketing involves partnering with influential or popular people to promote your brand. These people could be social media influencers, celebrities, or industry experts. The benefits of influencer marketing are vast, including increased brand awareness, credibility, and trust amongst consumers. Consumers are more likely to respond positively to a brand in a video or post by an influencer they like than an ad from the same brand. 

A key to successful influencer marketing is choosing someone who’s values align with your brand, not just someone who is popular and can get a lot of exposure for your brand. It could be more harmful to spend money on the wrong influencer. 

  1. Voice Search Optimization

Voice search (e.g., Siri or Alexa) is  becoming increasingly popular. As technology advances, more businesses are investing in voice search optimization. In 2024, voice search is expected to play a more significant role in SEO, and businesses need to consider how to optimize their content for voice search. Doing this will increase the likelihood and frequency of your website or page being the result provided by voice search when people ask for your keywords.

One tip for helping achieve this is to use more conversational language on your site and landing pages. Think of what a consumer might ask that you can help with and implement similar words and phrases to your pages. For example, “Who is a financial advisor in Minneapolis that specializes in annuities?” could be a question so you would put “a financial advisor in Minneapolis that specializes in annuities” somewhere on your main page.
